7 Things to note this Chinese New Year amidst Covid-19 Pandemic

Yusheng

Eight guests a day and no moaning while throwing yusheng – a much quieter affair this Chinese new year, with the new COVID-19 constraints revealed Friday (Jan 22).

The more stringent steps take effect when group cases are growing lately and there is a potential possibility of dissemination during the festival.

The Education Minister and COVID-19 co-chair Lawrence Wong said at a news conference, “Let us be mentally equipped to make the Chinese New Year this year not be the same as previously.”

“It’s going to be louder, more subdued. And our everyday practices and our relationships must be more disciplined.” ”

This is what you have to take care of before the Year of Ox is welcomed.

No more than 8 guests

No significant family celebrations will take place this year because only eight guests can each household obtain every day.

The restriction enters into place on Jan. 26 which aims to minimize the possibility of large population clusters from household and their connections transmitting pathogens.

The Ministry of Health has said that citizens could only see as often as possible two other families a day (MOH).

Instead of allowing physical trips, the officials urged the people to “digitally connect” with relatives and acquaintances.

Remember your Face Mask and Tracetogether Token

Still, as people exit their houses they can be used to put on their masks. But MOH said you could continue to see them, too.

“Individuals are reminded to wear masks at all times when outside your home, including when visiting someone else’s home,” the ministry added.

“No eating and/or drinking when you move in public areas so you can put your mask on.” ”

The Multi-Ministry task force of COVID-19 has often reminded citizens to toggle on their TraceTogether app or still bring their TraceTogether token, even when visitors are invited or when people go home.

Keep the Lohei Quiet

When you want to have dinner, try to preserve your masks during yusheng throwing.

The “lohei” can be carried out without verbalizing the normal good phrases and consumers should be reminded not to lift their voices. The new regulations on carrying a mask do not agree for diners that consume or drink.

The authorities said that food and beverage establishments and firms serving the festive food would maintain conformity for both the workers and consumers.

No Multiple Table Booking

Meeting dinner in a larger family at restaurants is definitely not likely as several table reservations are also not authorized.

For anyone from the same family, an exemption is made, while mixing through tables is not allowed. In addition, the authorities urged citizens not mixing up with social classes, but to hold their social networks small.

No CNY Company Event Dinner

No celebrations will take place this Chinese New Year as businesses are advised not to organize meetings or activities such as lohei or meals.. These behaviors are not work-related, and are not approved according to existing laws.

The Singapore tripartite partners said work from the home could remain the default to reduce the chance for the transmission of COVID-19 at work.

Adopt E-Angbao if possible

This year’s use of e-hongbao is being promoted. It is not just economically better; it would also help lower the lines for new bills in banks. E-Hongbao also provides remote donation during many trips, among which the Monetary Authority of Singapore said earlier this month at virtual Chinese New Year conference.

If you prefer to adhere to custom, you have to book with your banks online to get fresh physical notes. You have to pay. Appointment by internet is obligatory until you go to the bank except for those aged 60 and over and individuals with disabilities.

Enforcement check in place

Take notice of the laws to stop violating the law if you want to take good note of the start of Ox Year. During the Chinese New Year’s word, compliance checks will be intensified in F&B facilities, shopping malls and other crowded places.

Strict disciplinary steps against errant public and company owners would be taken. Sanctions for the COVID-19 violation entail penalties and charges in court, based on the seriousness of the crime.

The activities of firms that do not comply with the measures will be halted.
