Dainel Libeskind

Born in postwar Poland, this multi honors & awards Amercian architect's pursuit of adventure and innovation in his works provokes new ways of thinking as well as invites reflections through engaging with shapes, angles and textures in his creations.

reflections

Fundamentally an act or process of bending backwards, serves as a distancing device for casting a fresh eye on what has become rountine, neglected or forgotten.

Reflection yields ideals and hope for the future in challenging circumstances, it will inspires us with the wonders we are potentially capable of envisioning and achieving for ourselves and society

Reflections at Keppel Bay positions Singapore as global waterfront living destination
Keppel unveils spectacular seafront homes in architect Daniel Libeskind’s first Asian residential show piece

Reflections at Keppel Bay presents the new face to world-class waterfront living with its stunning architecture by master architect Daniel Libeskind.

A symphony of six glass towers and 11 villa apartment blocks will house 1,129 luxury homes along a 750-m shoreline, all of which enjoy unparalleled views of the waterfront, golf course and lush surrounds. The towers are of 24-storey to 41-storey heights while the villa blocks range from six-storeys to eight-storeys.

Combining heroic forms and classical elegance, the towers rise spontaneously as ‘beacons of light’ at the gateway of Singapore’s southern waterfront hub comprising Keppel Bay, Harbourfront and Sentosa.

The towers are crowned with lush sky gardens on sloping rooflines, and are linked by sky bridges, providing pockets of open spaces and platforms with near 360-degree views of the spectacular surrounds.

Mr Teo Soon Hoe, Keppel Corporation’s Senior Executive Director and Group Finance Director said, “Singapore’s southern waterfront hub is undergoing rapid and dramatic change, with focus on the multi-billion dollar Sentosa Integrated Resort as well as the government’s plans to develop the Southern Islands into a premium resort. These developments underscore the value and appeal of this waterfront precinct in the international arena.

“As the sole developer of Keppel Bay, the Keppel Group is committed to growing the value of this precinct in the long term, and what we envision is no less than a world-class precinct that will make Singapore the world destination for premier waterfront living.

“Reflections at Keppel Bay, optimising its distinctive strengths and integrating fully with its surroundings, will be a stunning contribution to the renewal of Singapore’s southern skyline. It will complement key developments in this vicinity to create a thriving waterfront lifestyle hub in Singapore.

“Libeskind’s signature at Keppel Bay presents a breakthrough in the design of residential developments in Asia as it raises the bar for waterfront homes worldwide.”

Keppel Bay is set to put Singapore on the world’s prime real estate map as a true waterfront precinct comprising the office development Keppel Bay Tower; Reflections at Keppel Bay; the FIABCI-award winning condominium, Caribbean at Keppel Bay; a world-class marina, Marina at Keppel Bay ; future developments including very exclusive residences on Keppel Island and a new landmark cable-stayed bridge linking the mainland to Keppel Island.

Keppel Bay enjoys the rare confluence of location strengths – of being near the city yet within one of Singapore’s best-loved nature and recreation enclaves surrounded by Vivo City; Sentosa and its Integrated Resort; Keppel Golf Club, as well as Labrador and Telok Blangah Hill parks.

Towering this waterfront precinct, the high rise units within Reflections at Keppel Bay will command a panoramic view of Singapore’s southern coast, the Central Business District as well as Mount Faber.

The apartment sizes range from 732 sf studio apartments to a 12,900 sf five-bedroom super penthouse.

Reflections at Keppel Bay will also showcase stunning water features such as a 100,000 sf reflecting pool, which brings the waters right to the doorsteps of the apartments.

Speech by Mr. LIM Chee onn, Executive Chairman of Keppel Corporation at the unveiling of Reflections, on 3 Jan07 at the Singapore Art Museum

Good evening

Mrs Cheong Koon Hean, Chief Executive Officer, URA

Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,

Tonight, Keppel is delighted and privileged to celebrate living art with the Singapore Art Museum.

Indeed for us in Keppel, Reflections at Keppel Bay is living art at its finest. Crafted by architect Daniel Libeskind, Reflections is Daniel’s first residential masterpiece in Asia. In my view, his creative intervention has frequently redefined urban landscapes around the world, and his works very often have provoked deep thought and reflection, and I might add, including the icon at Keppel Bay. Most definitely, he has impacted communities, injecting excitement, vibrancy, awe and pride in place of the conventional as well as the drab and dreary.

For many, Daniel’s creations are nothing less than world-class and world celebrated. It is not by chance that for our most definitive and comprehensive residential site at Keppel Bay, Keppel has decided to work with this brilliant but humble and down-to-earth artist from New York.

We wanted our showcase of Reflections at Keppel Bay to be launched from a distinguished platform as befitting its world-class quality, stunning architecture, and, I hope significant contribution to enhancing the Singapore waterfront skyline. What finer stage is there to do this than the Singapore Art Museum, the national reservoir where many of the best creations by our local and regional visual art talent reside.

Hence, it is not surprising that the Singapore Art Museum, one of Southeast Asia’s finest art museums, was our definitive choice for the first Asian survey of Daniel Libeskin’s works and showcase of Reflections at Keppel Bay.

We are very much encouraged by SAM’s enthusiasm and shared vision for the exhibition. Our collaborative efforts have produced this important exhibition of the celebrated works of an internationally renowned architect, demonstrating the successful integration of art and architecture as well as the joint endeavour of a public and private partnership.

I must confess that I mention this partnership with some pride, not only as Executive Chairman of Keppel Corporation, but also as someone who has quite a long association with the National Heritage Board.

As we strive to be a global city for the Arts, we shall strengthen our efforts to brings about a confluence of ideas in Singapore. This will place SAM in a much stronger position to encourage our dynamic arts scene to be further invigorated by the international flow of ideas, talent, knowledge and resources.

Whether in business or in art, we all share in the efforts to make Singapore a global destination of choice.

It gives me great pleasure to share this Exhibition and our Reflections at Keppel Bay with you.

Thank you.

$8M Showflat

AsiaOne
19 April 2007

A leading Singapore property developer has built a show flat at the princely sum of S$8 million - four times the average price of the flats in a condominium it is offering for sale.

Although show flats are what prospective buyers base a large part of their decisions on, surely such a splurge by Keppel Land for its Reflections at Keppel Bay project is extravagant since the show unit would be torn down eventually?

No, says Knight Frank's research director Nicholas Mak. He adds that the showflat creates awareness and is aimed at impressing well-heeled buyers. "In the bigger scheme of things, how much is this expense compared to their potential earnings from the project?"

New York's Daniel Libeskind, who is known as the architect's architect in the industry, has been roped in to design the 1,129-unit project. He is also involved in the design of the showflat, which boasts expensive European designer furniture, fixtures and even a Japanese baby grand piano.

The showflat, at 29,000 sq ft, is about the size of 10 basketball courts and took 4 1/2 months to build. Keppel Land's corporate communications assistant, Ms Catherine Tan, told The New Paper that it has received positive feedback about the showflat, with many visitors simply struck by its sheer size.

At an average unit price of about $1,900 psf, a 1,109 sq ft three-bedroom unit at Reflections could set you back by at least $2m. About 90 per cent of the 350 units launched so far have been sold.

Said Ms Tan: "This is something that befits the property. If we're getting a world-renowned architect for the project, the showflat can't be lacking."

An utimate showflat

Probably this showflat is the only foreign designed showflat that ever being build.

Undoubtably an uphill task to break this mammoth record, in term of the expenditure cost, scale and location being right at the sweetest spot on KeppelBay. Inside this flat is a hot bed for the displayed of high end furnitures from Italy Minotti & Australia Space.

If you are able to carry yourself resonable well off enough and impress the sale staff, you can be rewarded for an invitation for freshment drinks being served at the bar lounge... sitting on five figure $ sofa.

Such is the style of this New Yoker that is decidly provocative.

For me, its a kinda of "love at first sight" during the exhibition at our SAM. it featured his key works that includes The Jewish Museum , Denver Art Museum, World Trade Centre...etc.

There is an another Fiera Milano under construction in Milan, Italy which you had visited earlier. Zaha Hadid and several architects collaborated in this mega project.

The exhibition entitled Between, Beside and Beyond embodied Libeskind's bold lighting bolt-shaped formation for the displayed works.

An ideal picnic ground

Not only this showflat size is enormously huge, it boasts an expansive area with manicure carpet glass behind.

During the quieter moment when this showflat is discharging its duty, my family enjoyed the weekend picnic there at the most discreet corner, with my kids having their field day.

Reflections at Keppel Bay breaks new ground for iconic waterfront residences

Daniel Libeskind’s residential showcase in Asia to be completed by 2013

Work has commenced for Asia’s iconic waterfront residences, Reflections at Keppel Bay, with a groundbreaking ceremony held on site today by its developer, Keppel Corporation and property arm, Keppel Land Limited (Keppel Land).

At the ceremony, Mr Teo Soon Hoe, Senior Executive Director and Group Finance Director of Keppel Corporation, announced that the main contract for Reflections at Keppel Bay, worth about $1 billion, has been awarded to Woh Hup. The 1,129-unit premier waterfront development will be completed by 2013.

Mr Teo said, “At Keppel Bay, we are raising the bar to convert this prime and valuable real estate into nothing less than a world-class waterfront development as part of the Sentosa – HarbourFront – Mount Faber Precinct.

“We intend to bring together some of the finest names and brands in the industry to lend their signature quality to our developments at Keppel Bay. That is the reason why we have spared no efforts in going for the best to ensure that the waterfront residences at Reflections at Keppel Bay enjoy the highest quality in terms of fittings and fixtures, installation and features.

“We are therefore happy to announce that we have awarded to Woh Hup the main contract amounting to some $1 billion for Reflections at Keppel Bay.

“Woh Hup, one of Singapore’s leading construction companies, has an impressive track record and has won recognition not only for high quality execution and standards but also for its commitment to safety.”
The first phase of Reflections at Keppel Bay, comprising some 620 waterfront homes, has been sold out and its second phase is expected to be launched some time this year.
Reflections at Keppel Bay, designed by master architect Daniel Libeskind, will feature six glass towers and 11 villa apartment blocks along a 750-m shoreline, all with commanding views of the waterfront, golf course, parks and Mount Faber.

All the fittings and finishes are meticulously sourced to ensure premium quality – from the finest marble and splendid imported oak to leading designer ware under brand names such German brand Miele, Hansgrohe Axor, Duravit Starck and Kaldewei – each apartment is finely appointed to meet the taste and quality expectations of discerning homeowners.

Award-winning and of Sydney 2000 Olympics’ fame – US-based landscape architect, Hargreaves Associates will also create a lush oasis with the expansive grounds in Reflections at Keppel Bay.

The development will look equally spectacular at night, with lighting designed by Lighting Planner Associates, the renowned Japanese lighting specialists engaged to light up the Singapore city skyline and Orchard Road.

A true waterfront lifestyle awaits homeowners at Keppel Bay where exclusive amenities and facilities extend to the Marina at Keppel Bay on Keppel Island which include a clubhouse with a member’s lounge, fine restaurants and leisure charter services to access neighbouring islands. All homeowners of Keppel Bay enjoy 10 years of free membership and 5 years free subscription at the Marina.

Woh Hup wins $1b Keppel Land contract

WOH Hup has been awarded the $1 billion main contract for Keppel Land's Reflections at Keppel Bay. The 1,129-unit development will take about five years to build and is expected to be completed by 2013.

On the challenges facing the construction industry in the next few years, Woh Hup vice-chairman Yong Tiam Yoon said: 'We are lucky because we lined up our sub-contractors at the tender stage. We have been around a long time and have the support of sub-contractors and suppliers.'

The $1 billion main contract covers all major construction works including, piling, structural, mechanical and electrical, and architectural. It is Woh Hup's biggest-ever contract - but Mr Yong said the company, which is also working on the MRT Circle Line, has no problem with projects of this size.

Estimating that Reflections will require about 10,000 cubic metres of structural concrete per month, he said Woh Hup is already handling projects of close to this magnitude.

The first phase of Reflections, comprising 620 waterfront homes, has been sold out and the second phase is expected to be launched this year.

On the expected date of completion, a Keppel Land spokesman said that while the target is 2013 he expects the development will be completed sooner. The time-frame of construction is not long considering the size of the development, which has a gross floor area of 2.1 million sq ft and a site area of 8.4 hectares, he said.
