to solve roots of prob..is not to open another 'Care for Unwanted babies' home. With more help, sometimes may not a ideal solution.

Totally agree wz you, tat's not to give those "get baby by accident" an option when they are force to give birth to the child cos the baby is too big to go for abortion. Tat why Education is very important, and is oso a hot topic now how school play a role in sex education on wat and how it was tot in school.

Will education really works?? thousands of young girls abort yearly.. education do work to a certain extend..
(if yes, eve and adams will listen to god and not eat the apple liao loh...)

It will definitely be nice to have a place where "accident" happens.. Dont kill or dump the baby.. leave the kid at a place where social workers could find people to adopt them. I believe this is up for discussion a few months back in parliment??

thats why eve and adam is being awarded with gift of 'Labour'. So it would not be rosy life after they eaten the apple. Its fair, punishment is fair.

this is the obvious reason why these girls will just dump the baby away.. cause they will face* punishments* if they keep the babies.. (financially / family / social)

Thus, it is a good option that we have a place where no question will be asked if you leave your baby there.

if they jus leave it there....they will think they can come back one day to collect...less guilt, less 'punishment effect' on them.

If they throw away..the guilt is for life..unless they have no conscience...

dun lah ahthen, like tat very black heart.. when they throw away.. most cases these babies will die..
(Well, we could always have a rule that once u leave the baby at that organisation.. u wont be able to get it back in the future..)
(anyway, most adoption rules in many countries.. the maternal parent will not know where the kid went.. and the adoptiopn parents will not know who is the maternal partents..)
life is precious.. we keep them k??

like pets as SPCA..pple throw..knowing..SPCA keep..so pple keep throwing...never ending..at such point..SPCA no money take care...pple donate..or pets get put to sleep... prob create prob..so SPCA go education prog..spend money...urgh pple to be responsible pet owners...

or rubbish bin at mrt..pple throw..no bin...no more throw..

what i meant is..before they throw.they must already know the 'punishment' is very severe. So severe to the extend, might stop them from doing it. And if they still do it...kill or dump babies...then the punishment come.

so the punishment must be there...

hmm..maybe not very well clarified..hmm..

wah.. u two nite owl talk till 1am plus ah... dun become like me ok (panda eye :p).

Although education cant really stop "accident" from happening but we must not stop totally too. To certain extent it do contribute basic knowledge on Responsibility, Moral values or lastly, at least noe how to be protected against HIV/STD.

If things really get out of hand, dun just dump the poor baby away and leave it to die, tats most cruel things to do.... they bring him here, at least give them a chance to see the world. If they cant/dun wan to keep them, there are always help ard.

perhaps it just goes to show the government's "baby bonus" is not enough to dissuade these people for dumping their children?
how far can that measly amount go in a country that has such high living standards?
hmm..

Help can be around..but not in a loudly advertise way...do it quietly so that those unwanted parents would self help 1st..before asking for help.

how to self help?

imagine a girl at the age of 14 ~ 17.. and just give birth to a baby.. wat can she do? if she comes from a broken family?

she has no finance / no family support / she may does not even know who did it?

education? I remember young time.. dad told me fire is hot and it burns.. I didnt bother until i toch the fire myself one day and release what my dad says is true.. i believe many of us gone through that..

there are many people who cant have kids and would love to have one.. just give it to them.. dont throw.. or kill..

Another very sad case... the boy is oni 3 days away from his 1years old birthday....

Story from StraitsTimes.com

A TODDLER drowned in a pail of water at home while his young mother slept, tired out after a night of clubbing.

Adrian Ong Jun Wei's father was out looking for a job when it happened. The child's maternal grandmother was also out - picking a gift for her grandson's first birthday.

At Tuesday's coroner's inquiry into the 11-month-old's death on May 7 last year, his father William Ong Hui Shang, 27, recounted how he had panicked when he got home and saw that his son was not on the mattress in the living room next to his girlfriend. She was still asleep.

Mr Ong found Adrian in the toilet, half-submerged in a pail of water. He pulled him out but the child was unresponsive.

He woke the child's mother, Ms Tan Siew Kim, 20, and the couple rushed the toddler to Raffles Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 1-1/2 hours later.

Mr Ong, a part-time coffee stall helper, said he had been living with Ms Tan for two years. Her mother, Madam Ong Hong Lian, 54, lived with them in the one-room flat at Block 4 Beach Road and helped take care of the child.

Mr Ong said his girlfriend came home at 5am or 6am on May 7 after a night out with her friends at a club.

Before he left at about 10am that day, he placed the baby beside her, tapped her, and reminded her to feed him.

When he got home at about 5pm and could not find Adrian, he called out his name. Mr Ong said he became hysterical when he found him in the pail of water and saw that the baby was pale and motionless. 'My mind was blank and I rushed out of the flat,' he said.

Just a month before, he said, his son had crawled to the toilet and stood up, holding on to the pail for support. He splashed the water in it before his mother carried him away.

Ms Tan said she did not remember how many drinks she had had that night, but claimed she was 'still stable' when she went to sleep.

last time my grandparents used to also have a pail to collect water in the toilet ... after my son was born i insist that they remove the pail just in case something bad happened ....

11 months can crawl pretty well already. Think the mother may be too intoxicated to wake up...normally mothers tend to be light sleeper, will wake up at every little movement of the baby. My friends and I are like that
