Posted By lieblingsg on 26 Jul 2010 10:13 AM In case you dont know, the shops are having a summer sale for up to 70% discount at some places in Hong Kong. Sales in Hong Kong are very genuine. I see the prices of items hanging on their racks which were would cost 2x the amount before the sales. These are not trough items but designer stuff. Come to think of it, when it comes to sales in the big department stores in HK, I dont see any troughs/bins that you usually see in Metro or Tangs SIngapore! They really slash the price of their designer items. I just spent a weekend buying lots of items I dont need. LOL. Including a non-sale item - of a S$450 Missoni bathrobe! I heard Missoni was having sales in HK. Guess it did lure people in to purchase non-sales items. Lol. :) Wish I have the time to go to HK. Just came back from Shanghai and there were nothing worth buying over there. |

Yes they have new collection items displayed as well amongst sale items. Missoni offers no discount in Lane Crawford but their stuff are so beautiful I finally succumbed. Now I feel good when I put on my beautiful bathrobe when I potter around the flat. |

lieb., sometimes desire defys logic.
Couldn't resist and got myself a Madonna designed trench coat from H&M Hongkong.
Used it once overseas and now admire it only. You can potter around your apartment in your
Missoni bathrobe, but I can't be wearing my trench coat and doing housework?? Haha!

Rosy: Go for another autumn or winter vacation. For cheap vacation fly to HK on jetstar or Tiger! That will provide u with the opportunity to show off yr coat. I also bought the Jil Sander winter jackets from Uniqlo. They are very fashionable and will stand the test of time. |

Green; Did you go to the factory outlets for the branded stuff in Ap Lei Chau? Thats where people go to to get substantial discounts. There are Joyce outlets and outlets for Prada. |

Lieb, yes I did. I read your posts before I went. I went Horizon plaza. Visit "all" the outlets there. Guess the stuff are too branded. Most items easily HKD 5k and above. At horizon plaza, I only manage to grab 2 Hugo boss T-shirt for ard HKD 150 each at Joyce Warehouse. My gf wanted to get a Gucci bag but ended with none, also went Space outlet to look at the prada and gucci, but too ex too. I also went Macau and seem the bags there are cheaper?
Btw thanks for recommending that place in your post last year. Introduced me to more outlet shopping in addition to Citygates which is quite well known. Last year, I went Lantau island but I don't know there a Citygates. But this year, I do more research before I go =) Took bus from Central to Ap Lei Chau, quite far man!

I suppose what is cheap is relative. But the savings you get is quite tremendous. 2 friends of mine bought prada suits at half price from the outlet shop. You dont get sales from this type of brands usually. And even in the departmental stores here in Hong Kong, the sales are genuine because the month before the sale I would see the price of an item hanging on the racks and during the sale the price will be dropped 40%. They dont bring cheaper goods or have bins with sale items like what you see in Metro or Tangs. They try to get rid of the stock on the racks. WHy? Because, the stuff for the next season are coming in. When we talk about season, we are of course talking about real 4 season type of climate change and so the type of clothes you wear will have to change with changing temperatures. I am looking forward to winter already. I dislike summer. |

That true. I'm not really into these branded stuffs, so i'm not sure about the price. Will do more homework on these branded stuff before my next trip. I enjoy having my clothes tailored in HK. Good quality and decent price =) Still I must learn more about branded stuff, my gf abit crazy over branded bags. Sadly in Singapore, they will change the set of clothes for deep sale. I work in Esprit during one of my vacation job donkey years ago. Sales stuff here always different from normal stuffs. I hate summer too, got me so dark when i came back to Sin. Btw for ipad, you got the one with 3G? I'm thinking of getting the WIFI version as I'm not subscibing to the 3GI plan for iPad. Sound logical? Not sure why so many people get the 3G version unless one is subscribing for a 3G plan.

WHy do people buy 3G ipad? SO that they are not shackled by the need for wifi and have the liberty to surf anywhere they go beyond the hotspot areas. The package for the 3G service may provide for unlimited surfing too. SO you can be at a shopping centre waiting for yr wife to shop and need not park yrself at starbucks. You could be having a picnic by the beach and you can read an ebook. |
