I simply adore the way your house is taking shape... You really have lots of good and practical ideas for everyday living... Would u mind sharing the contact of your carpentry uncle? Seems he's like those men of yesteryear skills who takes pride in their job. To be able to execute your ideals into reality is simply great.

Your house is simply breathtakingly practical, if i may say so...

Info received... Appreciate it.... :)

The progress of ur house is like a caterpilllar turning into a butterfly... Btw, i've shared with fellow future neighbours of mine regarding vinyl flooring which u did for your home. He was thinking of using laminates, so i suggest him vinyl.. Hihi... But he said vinyl mostly used in commercial buildings... ;p
Anyway, if only i didnt opt in floorings for my bto, i would have strongly considered using vinyl...

Ha! Ha! Well, tell him that this is exactly why he should choose vinyl over laminates!

If vinyl is tough enough to stand up to commercial use, then it should make for very long-lasting domestic flooring, don't you think?

A Seat With A View

In the skilled hands of our carpenter, his wife and his friend (it's a family and friends affair!), our dining bench is taking shape nicely and has acquired a very pleasant backrest.

A Workspace With A View

My home-office desk and file cabinet are also shaping up nicely.

Honestly, I'd prefer my filing cabinet to be entirely open (it'd be easier for me to get my hands on whatever I want and would discourage silverfish from breeding amidst the papers in the darkness). However, I do keep files on all of my clients, and I really don't want casual visitors (or even my different work teams!) knowing what are all of the projects that I am managing or have managed. There is something to be said about discretion after all...

The television ledge in our master bedroom is also up. Nothing fancy here. It's simple, elegant, and functional. I like it!

Yes! We have optical fibre broadband!

Tucked away in a secret compartment at the bottom right of our file cabinet (in the study) is our connectivity hub!

When the door is closed, the only clue that there's possibly a lot of wiring inside, is the unobtrusive power socket outside...

My new home office (i.e. the 'Study') is finally complete and I must say that I'm happy with the results.

The carpentry is nicely done and there's tons of cabinets and drawers to hide away the detritus of working life.

And, once more, wherever possible, all wiring is hidden within cabinetry / false walls...

(Here, the wiring was run within the file cabinet itself, and only emerges as a row of plugs next to the cabinet.)

wow, u have got yourself an amazing HDB flat with such exotic layout.

And the ID plans were great too.

Mind shedding some light on your ID firm & contractor details?

If possible, maybe a little info how much had is all these amazing work cost you so far.

Becos, we are also looking out for a old resale flat and with ambitious reno plans but not sure how far we can go based on our budget.

Nice progress. Looking forward to seeing loads of books on the shelves. :)

Are you or your contractor planning for a photoshoot before you move in?

Thanks! I am both looking forward to and dreading my move tomorrow... I have 48 boxes of books (out of a grand total of 64 boxes)! I've have visions of unpacking books till June!

On the plus side, I'll finally have more to read. I've been so bored over the last few days at our newly completed flat... Never before have I spent quite so much time without a book in my hand!

Hmmm... I doubt I'll have a formal photoshoot. I'll just take my usual set of slightly unfocused and vaguely underlit pictures (if there was ever a competition for the worst photographer in Singapore, I'd probably win hands down!) and post them here as my moving in progresses.

Anyway, I have such a dreadfully unfashionable home (I have no feature wall, no massive TV console and no bling anywhere!) that I seriously doubt that our contractor would want to boast about it. I shall thus remain anonymous...

Wordsworth, may i know why do u choose vinyl instead of laminate? How can we tell the difference? Are u one of the few who use vinyl for residential use?

Wordsworth mummy!!! Awesome furinture! I simply love your twins bedroom. I wan to stay and play in there.

I love the kitchen set u bought for the girls. I have intended to buy 1 fom IKEA but now i will consider Viola. Thanks for the heads up.

You are ever so resourceful.. have learnt a lot from you. Do you have a blog becos I hope you could contd to post even after your reno has ended.

I finally went to Changi City point to take a look at the vinyl floor. Really love the effect. Can I know how much it cost psf? Is yours from formica? I have 2 medium sized dogs at home....just wondering if you think it can withstand the acidic nature of dogs urine? I probably will choose a dark flooring becos I notice some obvious black stain at the LEVIS store (their floor is in yellow-brown).

I'm doing ceiling fans n I notice u use cove lightings. Any shadow? I read that it is best to use downlights. Is your cove lighting LED type?

Can I know where u purchase your twins bed and table? R they from IKEA?

Please show us more of your purchase like sofa, decor stuff etc. ;-)

I think u have lovely stuffs. If you are selling any of your kids toys and clothes, could U contact me. I also have a 18month toddler gal ;-)
