Over the years, there are some dispute between solid surface and granite manufacturers. Mostly because they are competitors and to me both products have their pros and cons, so it really up to individual choice. Whichever choice you made, you must willing to accept the cons too. I don't intent to write all the facts here as it will become very boring, luckily found a website that had done a comparison chart of various countertops. Hope it useful to all.

It been a while since I update on this thread. Today, I'm going to touch on glass countertop. In Singapore, I think it quite rare to find ppl house having glass countertop, but that doesn't mean its not good to use. If I got a chance, the next house I will try to do glass countertop, if only I can find the specialist in S'pore able to do that.

This are some of the advantages of using glass countertop.

Glass Durability and Easy Countertop Maintenance

Consider glass for a countertop with multiple advantages.

  • Tough as stone – Glass countertops are as strong and durable as any common natural stone or man-made countertop material.
  • Texturing – Textured finishes make dust, fingerprints and small scratches nearly invisible.
  • Heat – Glass is naturally heat resistant so hot cookware can be placed on its surface (although the use of hotplates is recommended).
  • Hygienic – Glass is non porous, making it the most hygienic material available for kitchen countertops.

Glass countertops have a high-end appearance that distinguishes them from common countertop materials such as granite or synthetic surfaces.

All glass countertops are uniquely manufactured in 1.5 inch thick pure glass or thicker if you prefer - available in 1.5 inch (36mm), 2 inches (48 mm) or 3 inches (72 mm)

Every glass countertop can be customised with a choice of texture, colour and  finish to give it its unique characteristics.

As the only transparent countertop material, glass can further accent a kitchen or bathroom design by coordinating it with a coloured or textured cabinet top.

Each countertop can be fully customized to specs.

Eg. of glass back splash
