Not sure if it is spectacular. WIth the ban of boats and turning that water body into a reservoir, a lot of dynamism is eliminated. To me it lacks verve. Its just water. No life.

It takes time, then it would be like bedok reservoir where certain sports will be permitted to use the area. That's when the fun begins..

That's all I can reveal, just in case, cause after all it's the net. He took alot of photos for reference cause they need to know the exact conduit and stuff, and he used my camera. Resorts World at Sentosa to top out first hotel this month - CNA (19 Feb 2009) Singapore’s two integrated resorts (IRs) developers, have revised their cost estimates upwards for a second time. An additional $590 million will need for the Sentosa project, while the price tag for the Marina Bay Sands development has gone up by US$900 million. The extra money was needed for improvements to the design of the casino projects, and also the projects awarded earlier do not benefit from prices softening since the global financial meltdown. Resorts World at Sentosa is slated to open on schedule by March next year, and Marina Bay Sands is expected to open in the fourth quarter of this year.

Marina Bay Sands opening delayed to early next year Posted: 08 July 2009 1511 hrs SINGAPORE: The opening of Singapore's first casino has been put back several months due to shortages of labour and materials, the chairman of developer Las Vegas Sands said Wednesday. Sheldon Adelson said Marina Bay Sands will open early next year for its initial phase, after being originally slotted to welcome its first visitors by the end of this year. "The opening date we seriously anticipate will be in January or February," Adelson told journalists and guests at a ceremony marking the finishing of construction of the development's three 55-storey hotel towers. "We can't control the flow of sand to make concrete with, we can't control the availability of steel... and we can't control the availability of labour due to other projects that are in the market," he said. Las Vegas Sands said in March that at least half of the casino complex, located in Singapore's financial district, would start commercial operations by the end of this year. Adelson on Wednesday put the total cost of the development at S$8.0 billion (US$5.5 billion). Marina Bay Sands is Singapore's first casino project to be awarded, in 2006. As well as gaming, the complex will include hotel, convention, luxury retail and performing arts facilities. A second casino, Resorts World at Sentosa, is scheduled to open in phases also starting early 2010 and will feature the world's biggest oceanarium with 700,000 fish and a Universal Studios theme park. Singapore in 2005 gave the approval for casinos to be developed in a bid to draw more visitors to the city-state, whose main attractions are shopping, dining, night life and animal parks. - AFP/yb

I was using camera phone... :p FJ Benjamin to open three outlets at Marina Bay Sands August 24, 2009 Fashion retailer FJ Benjamin said it will open three new outlets at the upcoming Marina Bay Sands integrated resort. It plans to bring US brand Guess, lingerie giant La Senza and the company’s own fashion label Raoul to the new Marina Bay Sands Shoppes mall when it opens early next year. FJ Benjamin said it is also considering opening stores for several other brands within its portfolio of apparel brands. The new shopping centre will have 800,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. It will offer 300 stores with a mix of international luxury brands and emerging labels. Marina Bay Sands' first phase to open on Apr 27 Posted: 24 February 2010 0859 hrs SINGAPORE: Las Vegas Sands has said it plans to open the first phase of its US$5.5 billion Marina Bay Sands development on 27 April 2010. The date was announced by Las Vegas Sands in a statement on its website. In the statement, Marina Bay Sands chief executive officer, Thomas Arasi, was quoted as saying that the integrated resort plans to open its 963 hotel rooms - part of the shopping mall and convention center - as well as dining outlets and casino on April 27. This he said was subject to construction proceeding as scheduled and being able to attain the necessary regulatory approvals. Marina Bay Sands expects to host its first event, the Inter-Pacific Bar Association's annual conference, just days after opening its doors. The second phase will open on June 23, as part of the grand opening. This will include the opening of the SkyPark and Event Plaza. In October, one of the integrated resorts two state-of-the-art theatres will welcome Disney's The Lion King. Marina Bay Sands said the second theatre, which will also open later this year, will be home to a variety of special events and famous headline acts. Moreover, the iconic Marina Bay Sands museum is expected to open by December.
