Last Thursday, I was stressed and needed a walk.

Discovered a nice stretch that has colonial b&w houses on both side of Maidstone Rd. This is Medley estate and usually popular with expatriates.

It was a nice quiet estate. not much cars, quiet street and lots of greenery. Yet, it's not too far away from the city conveniences. Clementi Centra, Singapore Polytechnic and United Worlds College etc are nearby.

would u want to live in a house like this?

This is also near NUS Extension too where the Youth Olympic Village would be

A "Kampong" for the expatriates, don't you think so?

Oh yes! But, most Portsdown Road houses are converted to art places or eateries like Cicada or Laurent's Cafe and Chocolate Bar.

Most residential houses would be found along whitchurch rd or westbourne rd. :)

There's a bus service 191 from Buona Vista station at 30min interval. Check the schedule before going there.

btw, the bus-stop is just outside Laurent's Cafe and Chocolate Bar which is only < 200m away from Colbar ;)

I saw sandwiches, cakes and muffins.  Best is their Blackforest cake. But, need to order in advance. :)

If you would like to live in these type of colonial house, you could try the SLA website to see if there are any available for rent. All these are for renting and not for sale. Expatraite likes to live here because the rental is relative cheaper than those you rent from the open market.

SLA has just revamped their site and it's easier to navigate. The rental is managed by a private operator. Premas.

The direct link would be this: http://www.spio.sla.gov.sg
