I dont care what other people say. I think the Refelctions is one of the most hideous design I have ever seen. It is distorted, contorted and looks like a deformed suntec city. And I dont think it blends well with the environment as it sticks out like 4 (or is it 5) sore thumbs. |

oh........my goodness Lieblingsg. Certainly it has its controversy.
When Eiffel Tower was build,it generated huge uproar in Paris before it is finally accepted as the darling icon of the world.
Reflections is an architecture that speaks with its sculptural form, has the artistic merits and potentially capable of arousing the communities at large.
Keppel is targeting this project to be Asia's most daring new icon and probably Singapore only hope of architectural landscape breaks through. |

You are entitiled to your view and are not way out too, in generally it is not easy to accept this up and coming new generation of sculptural form of architecture. Lately Hadid Zahad rendition for the Farrer Court project are even more radical in approaches.
It is a matter of difference in thought and perspective. |

I am a big fan of Zaha Hadid but I have not seen her design for Farrer Court. You got pics? Abt my view on Reflections, I do appreciate and admire architectural designs old and new. I almost chose architecture in the university but changed my mind. So I am usually open to new ideas and innovation. But the design of Reflections does not appeal to me because it makes no attempt to integrate the environs into the design, neither is it culturally or climatically relevant. It is just a behemoth of a structure which stands out jarringly in the setting, even against its neighbours. I dont find anything remarkable about the aesthetics of the design either. Yes, the towers appear like sculpture and do not have linear edges, but at its core it is just a bland tower wrapped in glass cladding. I see more attractive buildings being built in Dubai, no question. |

The rendering pics of the proposed condo on Farrer Court site is in this link
Daniel Libeskind designed Reflections at Keppel Bay.
Among his works, I find Reflections at Keppel Bay most organic.
You can find a video of him speaking on this page
Quoted him in the video
Architecture is a language.
It forms by its location
that challenges conventions
that we defined our perception of cities, of spaces, of luxury, even of the way we live...

Well integration and culture will be expressed in the most articulated form by the architect but climnate relevant is long dead..........irrevocably and forever.
The architectural faculty and the world will only be awaken from its insanity upon, firstly on the advance stage of global warming and finally knee-jerking on the drying of the oil fields.
Already our fast disappearance of our enbloc nature harness condo will be making way for the onslaught of western supremacy.
I am unable to concur with you without incurring the wrath of the Pritzker prized Daniel Libeskind.

What I meant by climate relevant is simply balconies. I love stepping out into the open and taking in the view and the breeze. |

I love balconies too! :) Used to stay in Teresa Ville a decade ago. The condo is round and as a result has many balconies. Each room has one or at least share one balcony... except for the Master's Bedroom |

Noticed Libeskind's mission statement?
"Architecture is a language." it is no longer an abode any more but a planform for the architect to scream.........aloud to the world.
The loudest will probably wins the converted Pritzker |

continue........
"It forms by its location" -ala aritculate integration of sort
"that challenges conventions' -can kiss goodbye to our climatically relevant bldgs
"that we defined our perception of cities, of spaces, of luxury, even of the way we live... " -ones must learn to live, endure the discomfort and accept their supremacy.
Indeed a powerful shock and awe |

It is not a question of Ideal Model but hope. Hope that the dream of Keppel and Libeskind will be realised right here at the waterfront bay that Singapore can be proud of. The conceptualization of Reflections vision are " Daring, Iconic and Beacons of Light" If the teething problem is resolved, i have intention to chronicle Reflections development and pen my personal thought here. |
