Bukit Merah Central is long overdue for some major upgrading. It is sitting on pretty valuable land, and i am surprised that the govt has left the area as it was 20 years ago.
I see Toa Payoh and AMK hub being revamped. Why is it that Bukit Merah Central was not earmarked for any major overhaul ???

I doubt something would happen soon.

Construction is in strong demand now... many govt projects were deliberately delayed to give higher priority to private sector construction like the IRs at Marina Bay and Sentosa which has greater impact to our economy.

Perhaps a light rail transfer from redhill mrt to BMC would be good in future :)

that would be good... have tried to take bus from redhill mrt to BMC before.. took quite long due to waiting at the junction despite the short distance.

Highly doubt light rail will be installed. Mainly, there is no need to. Bukit Merah is a mature estate with very well built up infrastructure. As it is, there is already a high demand for its flats - both HDB and private. (there is already lots of complaints on 'unaffordable' HDB pricing by a small but very vocal minority)

such resources would be allocated to other estates to ensure, to a certain extent, fair distribution of wealth.

This is a clear sign of complacency by the government.

Bt Merah central is in a worse state than the oposition wards in Hougang and Potong Pasir, which is an absolute shame.
