Hum Chee Peng DIY! :)
Now the young lady has taken over, dont know where the old uncle now? Hope he is still healthy....
In the old day before the hawker ctr renovated, it used to sell $0.10 for one, but still cheap at present rate. .. but it seems that the cooking oil get darker most of the time so I dont have them that often now. i like the most is the icy sugar and I will bought more to share with the old folk living next door.
I avoid this stall as I see that they reuse the oil for several days.
But can't help it as the selling price will increase if they change teh oil daily.
Their rental has been increased by the government since completion of renovation works.

You mean she changes the oil daily?
I see the oil as being quite dark in colour at times, a sign that it is bing reused.

The ham chim peng stall's business is not so good nowadays... seldom see a queue forming...rather, I always see a long queue at the tapioca cake stall, and the tapioca cake gets sold out within 30mins or 1 hr of opening |

Someone mentioned Wu Xiang Guan Chang :
A closer look at the guan chang:
Pretty nice, not as oily as it seems. I like the egg-cake. The intestine is chewy but my true-blue hokkien colleague said it's meant to be chewy :)
And the sauce is heavenly !

Last few occasions when I went to Maxwell Food Centre, I left without eating cos it was very crowded, no seats and long queue at several stores. Still waiting to try the famous chicken rice. |

anyone tried the new fishball noodle that opened in recent months? seems to be offering direct competition to this fishball stall two stalls away which has been around for a much longer time. what do you think of the competition? |

hi rosylooks, think you are referring to the tian tian lai chicken rice ?
IMHO, not so good. When I tried last month, the chicken is not tender enough. I think the Toa Payoh Hainanese Chicken Rice Balls are better...

Hi SNH, Welcome to Myhometown ! It's at blk 111, toa payoh lor 1. Take MRT to braddell and exit near macdonalds. walk a little further than the macd and you'll reach blk 111. See here for pictures. however, the review not so good :P http://www.makantime.com/paradise/cr26e.htm |

Hello friends
Hello friends
Snaking queues at this food stall would be a very prominent sight when you look around the entire hawker. What’s nice with this yong tau foo despite the at-least-10-minutes-wait?? Good food, of course! Considerably cheap could be the reason too. I bought mine, selected 8 items with my bee hoon soup (not laksa) at $4… (second visit during noon time price change a lot -__-) Who knows they might change their price. Anyway, something to compliment the yong tau foo is the soup base with lots of soybeans or soya beans and IKAN BILIS. Cool! And the best thing is other than common items we normally see, they have fried tempura and fried money bag (just in case you don’t know what I mean, I attached the photo to this post). The thoughtful stall owners specifically separate fried items on another bowl if you order any, afraid that they would not taste good in soupy noodles. Nice right
Thanks for all friends
