Maxwell Chambers, formerly known as the whitehouse, underwent renovation and recently re-opened with some eateries at the ground floor ! Yeah, new food to try !

This morning went to Duxton Old Coffee for Breakfast.  It's opened by the same owners of Yummi Chiffon

 

 

 

The cafe gives a overall relaxed feeling while having breakfast.  I like the tables and chairs too.  The tables have intricate carvings at the side and there is a star on the tables! Wonder where they got their furniture from :)

 

 

 

Unfortunately, the experience was marred by the serving of the food...How can they serve in styrofoam cups and plates ?? Thumbs down for that:

 

 

The taste of the coffee is a little diluted and the bread was also not very well-toasted.  The SCS butter was also a little too thick:

Next eatery on the list : Funan Weng Ipoh Hor fun.  Initially thought that it's authentic ipoh horfun from ipoh, but after reading the history, it's ipoh hor fun from the old pre-renovated funan center...

I ordered the set meal as there is opening promotion @ $6.90. It consists of 1 signature hor fun + 1 plate of vege + 1 bowl of signature shrimp dumplings

out of the 3, the shrimp dumplings are my favourite ! It's big (covers the whole soup spoon), juicy and has 1 whole prawn in it !

 

 

 

 

 

Yesterday, we tried this quaint little shop at maxwell chambers.  It's quite hidden away, not facing the main road, but facing the carpark.

 

It has a nice name... "Once Upon a Milkshake" and nice deco...

Ladyla ordered a agent strawberry milkshake and I ordered a chocolate truffle castle ice cream:

 IMHO, the chocolate ice cream is not chocolatey enough :) Next time I'll try the lychee one (which is new and not shown on the menu)
