If she really loves you alot, a picnic basket dinner under the stars would be nice and sweet. This is not suitable when you are still chasing the girl cos... she might not be comfortable.

hmm .. fort canning or botanic gardens sound good. have only tried picnic dinner once at fort canning.. while watching ballet performance :)

hya: btw, stupid me did it when chasing my gf... tend to get the sequence wrong

emit: labrado park can be very quiet.. find it a bit "dark" for picnic activities.

so.. organizing something nice and sweet can be a good and memorable gift too! :p

if budget permits... get a Hearts on Fire diamond ring!

This 1.118 carat costs S$26,811 after Tianpo's discount. You can trade up (min 20% more) with full value within 2 years too

Top view looks huge, doesn't it?

This diamond ring looks beautiful and price is reasonable for a 1.18 carat HOF diamond. What's the color and clarity of this diamond?

anything G & above for HoF ring looks white to me. A better specs ring was placed side by side and I did an experiment with the sales consultant. She went out of the shop with the 2 rings (about 50m away) and I could see this ring sparkles more than the one with better specs but slightly smaller 1.01 carat ring.

This is a G colour VS2 1.118 carat ;)

The bigger diamond probably has a better cut, hence brigher fire as compared to the better spec one which I presume you mean better color or clarity.

yup. better specs means F color and VS1. HoF cut is the same isn't it?

HOF still have dimension tolerance to be cut the diamond to form a perfectly symmetrical ring of eight hearts and an eight-pointed Fireburst. Can't be so precise to cut all diamonds into the same dimension.

OT a bit: yeah.. think not the same coz it's not possible. am told that diamonds are like having layers of "skin".. like onions.. which cause light refraction to be different at different areas. so even if a diamond is 100% geometrically symmetrical and proportional, it is very unlikely to be optically symmetrical. optical is more important coz that determine path of light.. but much harder to achieve coz cutters have to look at scope to determine optical properties every now and then when cutting it.

folks.. beware when buying gold pieces..

5 gold pieces from 30 jewellery retailers didn't meet minimum gold content
01 December 2008 2326 hrs (SST)

SINGAPORE: A check by the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) found that five of the standard “916” gold pieces from 30 retailers did not contain the minimum 91.6 per cent of gold.

CASE bought the jewellery from retailers across Singapore.

It was then tested by an independent body, the Singapore Assay Office.

Three of the five retailers are members of the Jewellers Association, which said investigations will have to be carried out by its disciplinary sub-committee.

Eight retailers also charged more than what it should cost based on the weight and price at point of purchase.

Ho Nai Chuen president, Singapore Jewellers Association, said: "We have to examine to see whether these are isolated cases, whereby maybe certain pieces, just occasionally happen and it's not intentional. So I have to take it that before full examination, or full investigation, we cannot conclude that these three are unscrupulous jewellers." - CNA/vm
