the shout box, tho' useful, can be buggy at times... the vertical scroll bar disappears sometimes, and it's tedious to scroll with mouse scroll... problem had been reported some time back, but it still exists... when u finally scroll down to the msg u're looking for, the occasional refresh bring it back to the latest msg, I've seen other shout box having the option to retain the position of the msg... cheers :) |

hi flipper, Are u doing customer satisfaction survey as a requirement under QMS ? (just curious ...) I gave a rating of 4. Reason it is not higher is because of the following issues: 1.The system performance is very slow as the thread gets longer. For eg. The pinnacle@duxton thread and The Peak@tpy thread have part 2 because both threads were very long and as a result, it is too slow to even do a simple quote or reply. 2. I also experienced the sme problem as cyc said on the vertical scroll bar disappearing at times and the mouse scroll being very tedious. I got the same problems too 3. Upload of pics etc are generally slow, even when the thread is not long. 4. Policing by admin on the site could be improved as sometimes, the adverts stay on for a while before it is removed ... often spotted by forummers instead of admin 5. there are no way to create sub-topics within a main topic (e.g. if pinnacle@duxton is a main topic, then it'll be useful to have sub-topics to categorise useful topics such as - key collection, renovations, sky garden, etc. Now, pple want to find information, they cannot find unless they read through the entire thread. Generally a good site, but key issue is the performance ... |

flipper, it would be good if the max picture size can be bigger than the current 200kb limit, perhaps to 1 MB per pic. |

1. Web page down frequently, why? Sometimes when click 'submit', post doesn't appear or repeats itself. 2. As suggested before, Active Topics should be time-based like a diary, then no need to go through all Forum topics to see what were missed besides the top 20 posts. 3. If a thread could be item tagged it would be very helpful. Eg. P@D, 'heater' tagged, then can read all postings under that thread for 'heater'. Saves time searching. Overall, very informative site. Good job admin. and forummers. |

Hi PegasusP,
I agree one issue that has to be worked upon is improving the categorization of information, such that one does not have to scroll through an entire thread just to find a particular piece of info. however having sub-threads may not necessarily work as there will be many times when sub-threads are intertwined or closely related, or people post in one sub-thread when it could be relevant to another sub-thread too.
thus i propose a search function for the whole forum, and the same search function for searching within a forum thread. this would def facilitate ease of accessing info.

Hi rosylooks,
Rgd point 2, if i understood you correctly, you can easily view what forum topics you have not read. simply go to the "Forum" link (at http://www.myhometown.sg/tabid/84/MyHomeTownForum.aspx), then somewhere at the top, click on the "Not Read" link. It will give you a list of threads you have not read sorted by the latest date.

Since the last upgrading of this website, I find that it's even worst then before. Always have problem logging in, sometimes even takes up to half a day to be able to get in. Shout section is slow and often have to refresh then type all over again. Often have problem submitting reply. Maybe should have at least 1 admin around at all times to deal with people posting adverts all over the place. Can be very annoying at times seeing those rubbish. Other than all these, I think basically MHT is a nice place to chat and make friends. Keep up the good work Flip! |

As I read more than I post in the forum, I may not be qualify for the voucher. But would like to say that this is a great website which I must login at least once a day. Love to read about the interaction between members. Also agreed that the loading is a bit slow recently. MHT, JY!

Recently the server has been experiencing downtime quite often, though I'm not too sure what is happening. It can be a whole day or just couple of hours. Like what many have commented, the performance of the site seems to be heading downwards. I, for one, had been trying to attach pictures in the thread for TP this morning (after 12am) but had to refresh the page more than 5 times for my first three pictures and the server actually saved all those re-attached pictures (saw them under the Attachments > My Files (200) tab with different numbers in front of my filenames eg. 00X_00X_filename.JPG). I had to delete those pictures one by one. Even the checkboxes had to be checked one at a time and one has to wait for the page to be refreshed in order to see the green tick. Those three pictures took me around 30 minutes just to upload them :< Nowadays I prefer to read a thread without logging in. Seems that the loading time is faster. But once I log in, everytime I wish to load a page (not the page with the latest entry), somehow the screen is loading in a Flash mode and the number of pages seems to be bigger than the time I view it without logging in. Sometimes the page just get hanged. There should be some form of screening of those who join as members to the forum. In recent cases, many just spam across the board any time of the day. That's my one cent worth opinion.. |

Note from Admin (Lawrence): The below post was moved here from another thread
--------------------------------
Just a suggestion, maybe others can comment. I find that there are too many sub sections and quite a few are not active. Would it better to move them into a broader categories? With lesser groups, it would be easier to navigate around.
Please move this if i post in the wrong section. |
