I just had a most fabulous weekend in Shanghai! It's such a lovely city, so bustling and so hip! To all the Singaporeans who are anti-foreigners (read: PRC) out there, wake up and smell the coffee! This city rocks and it shows what the future is going to be. And it's awesome and awe inspiring! So sit and back and enjoy vicariously what I did in just 3 days. This below is the view from the lobby of my hotel at the Park Hyatt on the 87th floor of the Shanghai Financial Centre.

The skyline in Shanghai is simply stunning. I stayed at the 2nd building from the left.

It's the Shanghai Financial Centre in Pudong. It's opposite the iconic Jin Mao tower. View of the building as I approached it from the limousine that picked my friend and I from the airport. The building reflects the sky.

You hv to go up to the 87th floor to the lobby of the hotel. The hotel occupies the 79th to 93rd floor of the building. But the highest rooms are located on the 88th floor. After the 88th floor, it's the restaurants on the 91st floor accessed by a separate lift. Anyway this is what the lobby looks like. Here is the reception in the centre and behind it there are sofas where you can lounge around and hv coffee and tea.

This is the area behind the reception. They serve very nice cakes up here at the lobby. It's very comfortable to hang out here.

Darknight- I was just there for the weekend. 3 days. I hv been going for weekend trips for the past consecutive weeks. This weekend will be Macau and after that no traveling until September or October. I was in Taipei 2 weeks ago, then Bangkok the following week followed by shanghai. If you travel with 2 people and take the CX holidays or SQ holidays, these trips can be quite worth it. For example , the cost of a package can be equivalent to the cost of a ticket if you buy from the airline!

The view from the tall windows is stunning. Jin Mao tower is just next door. That building also has another Hyatt but its the Grand Hyatt hotel. It's a lower category from Park Hyatt.

The roof of the Jin Mao tower is so iconic. I think it's as iconic as the Chrysler building in new York!

Access to the rooms is via a separate lift lobby. This is the lift landing on my floor on the 88th floor. All these areas including the corridors are somewhat dimly lit by mood lighting. I actually brightened this pic slightly do you can see the details.

Gigantic art pieces adorn some of the walls of the corridor leading to the rooms. You can tell that this place is damn posh!

Great life you have. Cost of a package equivalent to the cost of a ticket is really worthwhile! Am anticipating your next trip to Macau! Have great fun Liebling!

Welcome to my suite. This is what you see upon entering. You see the dining table first- not unlike many hdb flat these days. Of course this suite is as far removed from a hdb flat!!! It is the most posh suite I hv ever slept in in my entire life! It is actually better than the W suite in Taipei or the Loft Suite in the Hansar Bkk. But that's because it's on the top end of the scale of the Hyatt brand. There are many interesting design inspirations from this room.

I don't normally like transparent glass dining table but somehow this time it works because if the table is not clear glass, the Eames chair will disappear!
The wall paper/laminate used throughout the suite has some woody grains but it's a fascinating material. It's not made of paper or the usual laminate! They seem to be made of rubber latex! I hv never seen anything like it.

Fruit bowl is replaced every day. 1st day apple, 2nd day Nanjing pears.
I like that you can see the Eames chair through the glass.

Shanghai Financial Centre looks like a bottle opener at the top.  Interesting buildings.
What is the circular building under construction nearby?

It's called the Shanghai Tower. It will be much taller than the Shanghai Financial Centre!
