We are planning for a holiday to Vietnam and/or Thailand; travel period from 29 Jan to 16 Feb 2010.
Our friend from UK, Mark, will be joining us, thus it will be a party of 3 adventurous adults who prefer cultural and sports travel.
We could do 2 weeks in either Vietnam or Thailand and return to Singapore for Chinese New Year celebrations or we could spend the whole time in either countries; very much depending on whether much is going on in either countries during the Chinese New Year period.
We welcome and appreciate your recommendations, suggestions and tips.
Many thanks!
:) KK :)

we were recommended to visit Sapa...
chanced upon surfuz's DIY Vietnam in July 2008
checking out surfuz's recommended link to plan a DIY 1 week Sapa trip
plenty to read on the site that BigFatFish had recommended too

vietnam
is the place to go now... for tose tired of malaysia and thailand..
alternative now is viet... actually my colleague just flew up last
fri.. will wait for his photos when he returns next week.
the
sailing club resort look damm nice.... internet booking and arrnage
your own flight up? what's the cost? any web?
Yes,
I arranged my own flight via Tiger. Did not book the rooms, walked into
them directly. Total cost of trip ard 2k for 2 person, 15 days. Stayed
at both the cheapest and most expensive places. It's possible to get
aircon room and hot shower for less than $USD12 at HCM and
Hanoi
Mui Ne is a comparatively expensive place.
Some useful links:
Use this as resource to find out abt day trips, transport, prices etc
The Sailing Club resort website
Mui Ne Beach
Something
to take note is the tour agencies, guesthouses change their name a
lot.. and u see company names being pirated a lot, e.g. u see Sinh Cafe
everywhere! Most accurate way to find a place is to use their
address.

Tks for the update on prices. Think it will be crowded near CNY period. Unless things have changed, better to change SGD to their local currency in Vietnam instead of at Singapore airport. Vietcom bank exchange rate not bad. |

Thanks for this tip!
I have a flight attendant friend and she would go to Lucky Plaza or Far East Plaza to get her foreign currencies. I shall get her to check the rates.

uh... edit liao.. quite likely to fly there on 29 Jan...
if we are doing hanoi, sapa, da lat, dong nai and some other place, we could stay till 16 Feb and fly back from Ho Chi Minh airport...
if we are only doing hanoi.. sapa..., then it would be quite like be 29 Jan there... 8 Feb back...
