Reserved for future advice. Tourist attraction - Nanjing Lu - pls go there at night (many neon lights and for tourist shopping).
Cheng Huang Miao - tourist shopping, near there got Shanghai local delights(sort of packet biscuits/gao dian, tea leaves),
shui jing (crystal ball) shopping area nearby
souvenirs, near there got a non-aircon old shopping building like Bugis village/Chinatown selling many kinds of stuff.
There is a replica london in Song Jiang Area.(unknown to most people, 1.5hr drive from Pudong Airport when no heavy traffic jams)
Take note of the roof of the tall buildings in city area- all got fengshui zheng ones, many designs.
Mineral water is better than tap water.
I went to Hangzhou for horse riding twice.(rural area).
If I recall anything, I will add somemore.

Mayb one thing u can buy back for family or relatives is their local biscuits. They wrapped it in a small cube form. One pack got alot of pieces. (like sweet but its biscuit). Once u pop in your mouth it melted, very powdery.. Thou not so nice lah but it one of their local products. Cant find in SG.

Not to mention "legal'' vcd/dvd, there are a lot if you can find. Also got legal ones, found in shopping centres. Advise you to buy some drama series - Japanese, Korean, Hongkong, Taiwanese and Chinese drama shows. Very cheap.
There is one big bookshop building called Shanghai Shu Cheng in city area. Sells all kinds of books, large variety and very cheap. (cheaper than SG 2 to 4 times). A 10-15mins walk straight down the main road from Shanghai Shu Cheng, there is the Raffles City opened by Singapore Company. It is very similar to SG Raffles city. It is bigger than the Singapore one. Nearby, also got many shopping centres which maybe not suitable for you.

In another part of the city, there is a place/building for computer geek. It is like Sim Lim Square. Forgot where liao, but I din buy anything.
IMHO, China got 3 standard for their quality of products.

Best Quality- products for export to overseas
Normal - products for local use
Bad- No standard quality/fake products, for local use
