THE LAMP. Initially I want a long rectangle dinning table but a friend suggested round table, if not an oval one as she says its more 'friendly' for socialising. Otherwise have to pass food from one end to the other hahaha. If i have a long table, then i need a longer lamp, so this PH5 might not work. But i love this lamp :( I am gonna to stop shopping for shoes to buy this lamp at Space. I think its retailing at $1k+... not sure if i saw it right....

The ph50 is approximately 1.5 before less. Space was having a promo selling at 1050 but it has ended. Anyway I personally think the ph50 look nicer when 2-5 are strung in a line over a dining table.
wah - that's a bargain! too bad its over :( hopefully there will be another sale end of the year.
One good thing for me is that I should be able to benefit from Christmas sale as my place should be done around that time. I want all the WMF pots from Robinson :D.... and those funky kitchen accessories from JosephJoseph

The PH50 has very nice color shades to match your dining area. If you like to cook, I would recommend the Scanpan. You can get them at Taka, you should be able to get 25% discount from Scanpan now.

Nice - where did you install the lamp? didn't see it in the pics you posted.
My partner really like the contrast on the floor between your living and dinning and now we are thinking if we shd do parquet for the living and cement for the dinning and kitchen. our original idea is to cement all the way except the bedrooms.

the lamp is in my spare room now, which will be used as a kid's room in future.

regarding the choice of materials for your floor, i think you've gotta ask yourself what kind of feel you wanna have for your home. Cement flooring throughout will probably give a colder feel compared to a wooden one, and may/or may not affect your choice of furniture.

Feature wall on the bomb shelter:
i think since the kitchen is still rather separate from the rest of the home, it is still ok to have a different wood grain for the cabinetry. I however would be more careful in introducing too many different types/colors of wood grains for your tv feature wall and your bomb shelter wall. Feature walls are in itself over-rated (personal opinion) and should be chosen carefully.

Thanks Weg. I agree that there should be too many features around. I think I should do just 1 feature wall in the living/dinning area and since I have to cover up my bomb shelter I suppose I have no choice but to do that wall. This feature should serve to add some warmness to my cold concrete floor.

Lieblingsg - thanks - I have seen your lovely stone wall and Weg's brick wall. Hopefully I can do something that looks great too. :)

hi wonderland...I build a feature wall for my tv & one to cover the bomb shelter in the kitchen...the one in the kitchen is wall to wall & floor to ceiling using brushed bronze laminates & bronze mirrors...I made it to match my build in shoe cabinet as the kitchen is near the entrance. My tv feature wall matches my bay window laminates. I didn't want to use the same laminates throughout the whole house as it'll look too repetitive but using the exact same one thoughout will be dull. have fun!

I am going for my first appointment at HDB this week! yayyy!

the owner has kindly offered to give me the key after the first apt to do renovation ! nice. i will be able to select the contractor after they see the place and give me the final quote. this will also pressurise me to firm up my reno plans. i am getting ambitious with my plans.... tsk tsk. must mentaly remind myself to stay within budget...

Just wanna ask those who has done their house - did you source for our own materials (craftstones/ tiles/ doors) and ask the contractor to do the tiling/installation work? would it work out to be cheaper?

I had an estimate on a feature wall using craftstones.$1580 for 1.5mL x 2.1mH, so its about $500 psqm. The craftstones cost about $80psm... so the contractor is charging me $???! to supply and construct? sounds abit steep for me....

waiting for waterproofing to dry up before grey floor tiles can be laid.

Its very irrating not to be able to conceal wires and pipes in HDB. But.. nothing can be done about it :(

Bought my dinning set at Deepavali sale in Picket and Rail. Very good bargain!

A walnut tulip table with white legs, 4 white eames in fibre glass and steel legs and 2 yellow eames with arm in fibre glass with steel legs

Effect should be similar to this pic as I will have parquet floors in the living and bedrooms.
