New BTOs can hack wall?

Hi all,
I am looking at applying for a BTO (Punggol) this May. I have a design in mind which requires hacking of wall between main bedroom and one of the other rooms. It is not one of the 'bold' walls and we have also checked with HDB, who said that the bold ones confirm cannot but the rest is subject to approval.
My partner has checked with a contractor who mentioned that prefab BTOs cannot hack any walls. Anyone else can render me some assistance (ie yours is a prefab but you have managed to hack some walls)? It will affect us a fair bit because if all the walls CONFIRM cannot be hacked, we will apply for some other place since Punggol is not our main choice.
Appreciate your urgent assistance please!

Hi Aphroditee:)
Hubby and i are also looking to hack part of the wall in our BTO flat.
Was at the Expo with hubby to get ideas from the home renovation exhibition. From what i gathered, we should be able to hack the wall provided we are able to get a professional engineer to endorse that its safe if we hack the walls. |

Hacking of the wall subjected to PE Endorsement and HDB approval (for whole wall). If effected to the main structure, definitely will be not allow. Alternatively hacking for new entrance will be easier to get approval.
Better to engage the license HDB contractor, cause they can give a better advise and proceed for the permit faster & less hassle.
You may hack whatever that you like but HDB do random checking on the HDB unit, or else any problem incurred to your neighbour unit (sides, top and bottom) they may raise the case to HDB. Otherwise you might face this problem during sell your unit away.
Then you will caught into big problem as well as your license contractor.
Bare in mind, a lot of company do said that they can provide you the HDB license but might be on loan from someone.
Once they caught in the problem, they can push away the problem to you to face alone.
You might take this issue into your consideration. |
